Let's talk about what prepping really is.
You plan for retirement, right? You max out your 401k. You have life insurance, disability insurance, maybe an umbrella policy. You see a financial planner.
Why? Because you're smart enough to know that hoping for the best isn't a strategy.
Prepping is the same thing — just a slightly different twist.
Instead of preparing for financial disruptions, you're preparing for physical ones. Power outages. Supply chain issues. Natural disasters. The stuff that's been happening more and more often.
I know, I know — you hear about end-of-the-world scenarios, grid-down situations, and yes, we prep for those too. But will they ever happen? No clue. Here's the thing: prepping is about considering possibilities and taking steps to reduce their impact if they occur.
But What Does Prepping Look Like Every Day?
Do you have a little kid? Keep extra clothes and diapers in your car or bag? That's prepping.
Keep a change of clothes and shoes in your car in case your spouse wants to grab dinner after work? Prepping.
Throw a wool blanket and snacks in the trunk come winter in case your car breaks down? Prepping.
Meet with a financial planner early in your career to plan for retirement and discuss insurance? That's prepping too.
Want to be able to run to the theater or a date night after a hard day at work? Dress and shoes in the car, makeup on standby? That's prepping. What about when the car breaks down and you have to walk to the gas station? Sneakers in the trunk for the win.
Heck, even keeping a gym bag in your car is prepping.
Prepping isn't about running off to hide in the woods when the world ends (and that's not going to work out well for you anyway). Prepping is having thoughtful "What if?" conversations and taking slow, steady steps to prepare for those possibilities.
Think of It as a Strategy Game for Adults
You already think this way professionally. You manage projects, budgets, deadlines, people. You plan — because if you don't, things fall apart.
That's prepping. Same strategic thinking. Different application.
So ask yourself: are you a prepper? I bet you already are. It's just time to level up the game you're already playing in your head. That's what we're here for — to think, plan, and prepare together.
